A READER, Keith Styles from Honiton, writes to tell me that as a former Hampshire policeman he was lucky enough to be appointed one of that county’s first wildlife liaison officers and, amongst his duties, found himself having to deal with complaints from the public about the generally aggressive behaviour of herring gulls and the mess they made, a subject which is close to the hearts of a good many residents in our area.
